I was first introduced to CrossFit in the summer of 2007 while I was working on a temporary job assignment in Utah. At the time, I was a sports performance coach working with athletes, and I discovered CrossFit because I just wanted to pick up a new hobby and keep myself busy out there. My first WOD consisted of tire flips, KB swings, wall balls and running. After passing out on the floor when the workout was done, I was immediately "addicted" to this very unique training program! (Big shout out to CrossFit Utah Valley!)
Moving back to California, I checked out as many affiliates as I could in the Orange County area and luckily came upon CrossFit South County. Their strong sense of community, dedication to deliver results and accountability as a member really got me hooked, and I have never turned back since.
I truly believe in the CrossFit methodology and philosophy. It has changed my life in so many ways physically and mentally. I am able to accomplish new goals each and every day. From lifting heavier weights, climbing ropes, walking on my hands, etc. the journey to get fitter never stops for me, and I love that. I don't want to be great at one thing but good at a lot of things. That's why I compete in every competition or challenge I can because it is a test of my training: the hard work and dedication I have put in.
But for me, as a CrossFit Coach & "addict", I love being part of the amazing community! My true passion is making our community stronger each and every day. CrossFit South County has one of the strongest communities I have ever been around, from hanging out after workouts and talking about the workouts over Facebook, to meeting on the weekends for brunch, etc. It is one BIG FAMILY, and it consists of great members that fill it. That is something you don't find at your everyday global-gym environment. I love starting the clocking and counting down... 3, 2,1... GO! That is the best part about CrossFit, watching a class and seeing different levels and ages working out together and going for one goal, which is finishing that WOD!
